Spice Jet launched Chennai – Colombo – Chennai regular flight scheduled from 9th October 2010.The first flights schedule to the take off from Chennai at 1.30 am and Arrived to BIA at 2.50 am. The return flight to Chennai was take off from Colombo at 4.10 am in the same day.
The starting fare of the round trip[Chennai – Colombo -Chennai or Colombo -Chennai – Colombo] is an Indian Rupees of 999 [ approximately SLR 3000]. this price reduction lead a huge demand to the Spice Jet in Srilankan and Indian Air Travelers.
The spice Jet is one of Indian low cost, domestic Airline. Its achieves of nearly a 32% of the India’s domestic market with total of 22 Boeing Aircrafts. [Boeing 737- 800 – 17 Aircraft and Boeing 737 – 900ER – 5 Aircraft ] and Spice Jet orders feather 36 Boeing Aircraft of 737-800 for their future development in domestic and international Air carrier.
The recent acquisition [nearly 37% Stake of Spice Jet] by the the SUN Network founder Mr.Kalanithi Maran, is leads the hope to the Indian investors to see future development of Spice Jet. Same time there is a possibility to Change of the Spice Jet Brand Name into New brand name which related with SUN Network Brands. This will held, only if he control over 50% Stake directly or Indirectly.
In Overall, the Spice Jet is a successful entrance to the Srilankan Market with a huge brand Promotion with their low cost Air travels [SLR( Srilankan Rupees) 3000], but Still questionable the survival in Srilankan market with these high price competitions.
