Hambantota Port Operation is Delay due to lack of Trained Staffs

From the day of  declaration of the Hambantota Port as a free port, there is an heavy inflow of ships carrying vehicles into the Port, but due to the lack of trained operational staff it have been delay in unloading and loading operations.

From the January to September this year a total of 37,537 vehicles from India, Japan and the Gulf States were unloaded at the port for transhipment and they are re-exported to Europe, Africa and Australia.

19,000 units for the local market too arrived at the Hambantota Port to date this year, but the operations of Loading and Unloading is delay due to the lack of Trained Personal.

The proper training would be adding values to the Port Authority to develop their Businesses and improve the Operations in Colombo & Hambantota toward Economic benefits to the country
