Prawn, fish breeding project started in Hambantota

The Sri Lanka Aquatic Life Authority has launched a fresh water prawns and fish breeding project in reservoirs in the Hambantota district. Prawn and fish fingerlings will be released to the reservoirs at Tissamaharama, Walasmulla, Tangalle, Hambantota and Lunugamwehera reservoirs.

A spokesman for the project said the project is launched to poularise freshwater fish and prawn breeding and encourage the people to consume them as they are rich in proteins and vitamins.
