Piliyandala Eco-Park commences

Constructions on the Eco-park in Kahapola, Piliyandala ceremonially commenced last week with the participation of Botanical Gardens and Recreation Minister Jayarathna Herath and Labour and Labour Relations Minister Gamini Lokuge as Chief Guests.

The project was undertaken by the National Zoological Department with the aim of developing tourism. The Eco-park consisting of 77 acres of land area would be opened to the public in 2015. It comprises a conservation centre of indigenous fauna and flora, a breeding and research centre for endangered species, an entertainment centre for children and water sports facilities centering the Bolgoda Lake.

In addition, the Park would also consist Souvenirs stalls, a Cafeteria and a Cable Car Service. An investment opportunity for the private sector is available for these purposes as well as for boat services.
