Gaffoor Building in Colombo to become City Hotel by 2015

One of the ancient and famous landmarks in Main Street Colombo, the Gaffoor Building, is to be renovated and reopened as a City Hotel with an investment of over Rs 200 million and will be managed by the Urban Development Authority (UDA) by the end of next year which would consist of around 70 rooms.

When the UDA acquired the Gaffoor Building, it was flooded with about three feet of sea water and the building was in a very dilapidated condition as well. At present we are carrying out renovation work there stated by Mr.Nimal Perera, Chairman of UDA.
