Applications are invited from eligible Sri Lankans for the award of masters scholarships offered by the Government of Indonesia under the above scholarship scheme. The medium of study is Indonesian language.

General eligibility requirements:

(a)     Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.

(b)   Applicants must have a First or Second Class (Upper Division) degree from a recognized university

(c)    Applicants should be below 35 years  of age on 11.04.2011

(d)   Be employed in the Public Sector, University , or a State Corporation

(e)   No application will be entertained from a person holding a temporary/ casual/ contractual appointment or a person who is unemployed. Only confirmed employees will be considered for the scholarships.

(f) An employee on probation may apply provided however that his/her confirmation is conditional upon acquiring a specified postgraduate qualification, in such a case a statement to that effect should be included in cage 17 of the application.

(g) Should possess a TOEFL score of 450 or equivalent

Applications are invited by Universities New Zealand from eligible Sri Lankans for the award of Postgraduate Scholarships offered under the Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships Plan (CSFP) tenable in New Zealand for the academic year commencing in

February, 2012.  Number of Scholarships to be awarded is 02 for PhD or Masters Studies.

These scholarships will provide opportunities to Sri Lankans   to pursue advanced courses of study and to undertake research.  These scholarships are intended for persons of good intellectual promise who may be expected to make a significant contribution to the country on their return upon successful completion of studies/research.

d) Age: should be less than 40 years on 25 .04.2011

e) Should possess First Degree with Upper Second Class Honours in the relevant field of study, from a recognized university and a relevant Master’s degree for PhD studies.

f) Should possess high proficiency in English.  To prove this, the candidate must have sat either IELTS or TOEFL examination and obtained high marks.  Test results must be not more than 24 months old at the time the applicant would commence study.

g) Should be employed in a Ministry/Department, a University or in a State Sector Institution. Notes (i) and (ii) below

h) Applicants cannot:

  • Concurrently hold another scholarship;
  • Hold or have held, a New Zealand or Australian  Government scholarship in the 24 months preceding the scholarship start date;
  • Be studying full-time at post-secondary level;
  • Have completed a qualification in a similar field of study at the same level or another qualification at the same level. The proposed level of study should be at a higher level than qualifications already received:

Scholarships Durations

  1. The initial period of scholarship granted is for 12 months
  2. The scholarship might be renewed beyond 12 months
  3. The scholarship will be renewed every six months and will be able to cover the maximum duration of the postgraduate program.
  4. The Scholarship for masters – level programs can be extended up to 2 years
  5. The scholarship for doctoral programs can be extended beyond 2 years but not more than 4 years

  • Not have held a scholarship for study outside Srilanka in the 24 month preceding application
  • Not be permanent resident or have applied for permanent residency in Australia
  • Not be married or engaged to married to be a person who hold or who is eligible to hold Australian or New Zealand Citizenship or permanent status.

In addition, Applicants for an ADS scholarship must,

 Be less than 45 years of age on 1 January of the year of application

  • Have a first degree preferably with a pass with class from a Srilanka or recognized foreign university and local post graduate qualification
  • Be confirmed in their join and have at least 2 years work experiences in the Srilanka government sector in a field relent to the proposed course of study.
  • Not have previously received any Srilankan or overseas government funded scholarship for long term academic studies in a foreign country.

 

The successful candidate will commence studies at an Australian institution from January 2012.
