The ship contains of 5,000 titles at an affordable price with 400 Volunteers at a common goal of helping people through social projects.

The Logos Hope Opening hours are as follows:

From August 30 to September 12 10.00 am – 8.00 pm, (Tuesday to Saturday)
2:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Sunday and Monday.
September 13 to September 21 everyday from 2.00 pm – 8.00 pm.

 

Tickets cost Rs. 100, and children under 12 have free admission but must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Maximum speed for Trishaws (Three Wheelers) will be 40 Kmph
  • Each and Every Trishaws (Three Wheelers) needs have fair meter
  • Need to place the Name of Trishaws (Three Wheelers) Driver Name, Photo, Contact number and Vehicle License.

No more A/L Classes for G.C.E (A/L) 2013 Examination

The Commissioner General of Examinations W.M.N.J Pushpakumara said it is ban to having classes for G.C.E (A/L) 2013 Examinations held in August 5, 2013.

This help the student to be relax and stress free to sit for their examination comfortably and these period may not good to discuss the Papers rather grasp the whole syllabus.

Therefore the Commissioner General of Examinations said it is mandatory to stop classes from 31st July 2013 till 30th August 2013.

Seven Colombo housing schemes to be renovated

The renovations of seven housing schemes in Colombo will commence within the next two months Under the Nagamu Purawara housing development project.

housing schemes, namely the Gunasinghepura housing scheme, Bloemandhal Housing Scheme, Samapura housing scheme, Mihindu Mawatha housing complex, Sucharitha Mawatha housing complex, Palliyawatte and Sirimapura housing complex, at a cost of Rs. 299 million.

The Gunasinghepura housing scheme consists of 312 houses and 208 shops. This housing scheme is to be renovated after 30 years at a cost of Rs.133.5 million.

The Bloemendhal housing scheme was established in 1957 consists of 396 housing units.

 

Matara-Kataragama Railway Will Open Soon

The News stated the Transport Minister made addressing in a public meeting that the proposed Matara-Kataragama Railway from Matara to Beliatte is underway. Work will be completed soon and train services will be extended up to Beliatte within two years.

The Project will be added values to the railway department to earn more profitable venture accordingly,More travelers prefer the rail journey than Other mode of transports.

This would attractive to the pilgrimage and Safari (Wild Life) Tourism of Sri lanka. And it is an expectation of All Srilankan; as open up the Railway networks to cover whole country, while facilitate quicker transport service.

Granting Citizenship to Sri Lankans of Chinese Origin

Grant of citizenship to persons of Chinese origin Act No. 38 of 2008 has been enacted by the Parliament of Sri Lanka, with effect from 31.10.2008.

Persons of Chinese origin, living in Sri Lanka, since 15.11.1948 or their descendants, who have not been granted with Sri Lankan citizenship under any of the previously enacted citizenship Laws, are entitled to apply for Sri Lankan citizenship under the provisions of Section 2 of this Act, which is quoted below.

  • Any person of Chinese origin, whohas been a permanent resident of Sri Lanka since November 15th, 1948:
  • Is a descendant, presently resident in Sri Lanka, of a person who has been a permanent resident of Sri Lanka since November 15th, 1948.

Shall be entitled to apply in terms of the provisions of this Act. for the grant of the status of a citizen of Sri Lanka’

This Act shall be in force for a period of five years from the date of enactment. So the effectiveness of this Act will be ceased after 30/10/2013. Therefore, all the eligible persons are kindly informed to apply for Sri Lankan citizenship right now.

National Identity cards to be in Sinhala and Tamil soon

After the fundamental rights petition filed by A.P. Dananjaya Gamage cited Registration of Persons Commissioner General R.N.S. Sarath Kumara, Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, National Languages and Social Integration Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara and the Attorney General as respondents.

The petitioner states that the Constitution specifies that Sinhala and Tamil are the official languages of the country. The DSG informed Court that there are several modalities which have to be looked into in both languages, in the identity card and moved for time till June.

Liberty Plaza goes through for Massive Development

Liberty Plaza is spending upto Rs 964 million to re-develop its mall, the first large-scale mall in Sri Lanka, creating a new experience.

Under the refurbishment-revamping project of the existing Liberty Plaza, there will be two floors of retail extending to 20,000 sq.ft each. This proposed addition will be connected to die existing mall on the first and second levels. This development will also include an additional car park deck to cater for the future demand.

The existing office spaces in the second floor adjoining the new food court will be converted to retail space under the revamping project. This will bring in an additional retail space of 20,000 sq.ft to the existing retail space of Liberty Plaza. Further, a food court will be developed in the 2nd floor which will be operated by a third party

There will be a pedestrian pathway around Liberty Plaza with features like urban verandas and coffee shops. 

E-Learning Centre opens in Ampara schools with Deyata Kirula 2013 Development Programme

E-Learning Centres are being established in schools in the Ampara District to promote computer education in rural areas under the Deyata Kirula -2013 development programme.

Newly built E- Learning Centres in three schools in the district were vested with students recently. The Information Technology Ministry funded for the programme.

New E-Learning centres were opened at

  • Addalaichenai Arafa Vidyalaya in the Akkaraipattu Educational Zone,
  • Sainthamaruthu Al Hilal Vidyalaya in Kalmunai Educational Zone,
  • Korakkar Tamil Maha Vidyalaya in the Sammanthurai Educational Zone

It would be provide a basic ICT knowdlage to the Students and to perform well in their life.

 

Solar Powered Fish Dryer Now in Sri Lanka

The first solar powered fish dryer established in Mudukatuwa fisheries village in Naththandiya.

Naththandiya Vidatha centre commenced the project to encourage the public to produce new value added products using endemic resources. The project cost to Rs. 172,000 for the capacity to dry 120 kilos of fish per day. This will help protect the nutrition in fish and provide quality fish to the market.

This is the first solar power fish dryer established by the ministry with technical assistance of granted by the Practical Action Institute. The Technology, Research and Atomic Energy Ministry is to launch this project in Negombo, Chilaw, Northern and Eastern Provinces via Vidatha Centres.

It is an opportunity for fishermen to utilize natural energy to maximise the benefits
