The ministry of Public Enterprise Development in collaboration with Chilaw Plantations Limited wishes to invite from local and international private sectors, interested in investing, to submit their expressions of interest to carry out suitable economic development projects.

Chilaw Plantations Ltd, a state owned Plantations Company, consisted of 14,000 acres of coconut as the main crop in the Gampaha, Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts of Sri Lanka is a profitable and large scale Plantations Company. The management has decided to ustilise the land to be diversify for maximum utilizations of sustainable development to get the maximum out of the land to take advantage of the efficiency and productivity of the land as a boost to the development and economy of Sri Lanka. Due your attention and care is given that these industries must safeguard the environment by undertaking environment friendly projects and benefit the plantations sector. The projects for investments such identified by Chilaw Plantations Limited already are:

  1. Inter cropping and mix cropping in coconut plantations.
  2. Livestock management in coconut plantations.
  3. Trade and commercial housing industry.
  4. Value added coconut based products and further processing and processing projects in coconut plantations.
  5. Wind Mills energy and Bio gas projects.
  6. Eco tourism close to Coconut, Cashew, Lagoon and streams and any other identified projects.

Investors from the local and international private sector are hereby invited for private partnership in business, targeting the international and national markets,

Keeping with the government policy to invest and involve in the local and international private sector to participate and generate higher revenue from land and properties belongs to the state owned Chilaw Plantations Limited.

India Rubber Expo 2017 – Applications call from Sri Lanka Rubber export Companies

Sri Lanka Export Development Board Invites applications for the India Rubber Expo 2017 schedule to be on 19th to 21st January 2017 in Chennai, India.

The EDB with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Deputy High Commission in Chennai, India proposes to organize a Sri Lanka pavilion at the 9th India Rubber Expo International Exhibition to be held at the Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai, India from 19th to 21st January 2017.

Objective

To develop business contacts with India and other international buyers and explore the possibility of enhancing the visibility and promote Sri Lanka’s rubber products in the international market.

Products to be Promoted

Pneumatic Tyres and Tubes, Solid Tyres, Rubber Gloves, Rubber Foam Mattresses & Pillows, Rubber Carpets, Rubber Sports, Goods, Moulded and Extruded Rubber Products, Rubber Automotive products or any other value added rubber products.

Participants: Rubber products exporters/manufacturers in Sri Lanka.

Cost Of Participation

EDB may consider providing assistance towards part cost of stall rental with basic fixtures and fittings for the selected companies. All other expenses will have to be borne by the participants. Selections will be done by an interview panel appointed by the EDB.

Sri Lanka Export Development Board, Ministry of Development Strategies and International Trade Invite application for take part Electronic/Electrical Sector Business Delegation to Visit Chennai & Bangalore 22nd – 27th August 2016.

Electronics manufacturing is a growing industry in South India. Chennai has emerged as an Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) Hub of India. Products manufactured include circuit boards, automobile accessories, cellular phones, consumer electronics, PCs and related components, and digital equipment etc.

The EDB proposes to organize a business matchmaking programme with Indian Electronic Companies/ Associations/ Government Institutions in collaboration with the Deputy High Commission of Sri Lanka in Chennai to explore the opportunities in the electronic/electrical sector market in South India from 22nd to 27th August 2016.Target participants will be from the Electronic Sector exporters and prospective exporters in Sri Lanka.

Cost of Participation
The EDB would meet the cost of organizing the business matchmaking programme and part of internal traveling cost within India. Personal costs such as air fare, accommodation, and part of internal traveling cost will have to be borne by the participating companies.

Sri Lankan Airline Suspend flights to Paris & Frankfurt

SriLankan Airlines will suspend flights to Frankfurt and Paris. Accordingly, the last flight between Frankfurt and Colombo will be on October 30, and the last flight from Paris to Colombo on November 6.

Sri Lankan Airline publish a statement stated that the Government of Sri Lanka has made it clear that it will no longer fund continuing losses…the route network is being continuously evaluated in the context of changing market dynamics in order to maximize on sustainable routes which bring in more contribution towards the bottom line. It said that while the drop in fuel prices had contributed to improved performance, that benefit was significantly eroded with the airline’s revenue for the financial year ending 2015/16 declining when compared to the previous year.

And it stated that the particularly by Middle Eastern carriers, accompanied by a drop in airfares in European markets has seen the contribution of the European network drop in comparison to the other routes, and it has been further exacerbated by the depreciation of the Euro against the Dollar.”

however SriLankan operates daily flights to both Doha and Abu Dhabi and has a strong code share relationship with Etihad and Qatar through which it will continue to provide onward connectivity to the European destinations it has been serving via Paris and Frankfurt. And London will remain the Airline’s gateway to Europe, where the Airline has deployed its state-of-the-art A330-300 fleet for daily non-stop operations, providing a greater comfort and an enhanced flying experience to its passengers.

Nurse Job in UK for Srilankan Nurses

Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne stated to the media that Sri Lankan nurses will be trained at the British Council and provided jobs in the UK, He further said that arrangements have also been made to provide jobs for nurses in the US, through a private nursing faculty.

Minister assure that the nursing faculty will be establish in Sri Lanka at a cost of Rs. 12,500 million for educating and provide international standard qualification to Sri Lanka Nurses.

As now Sri Lanka has recorded the highest foreign currency earning from remittance of domestic workers who works in aboard. If Sri Lanka is focusing to offer a professional services to aboard, then the foreign currency income will increase and it will support to the sri lanka economy.

But in overall the Sri Lanka Government should develop new policies to take care the workers who traveling aboard for works.

Life Expectancy of Sri Lanka has increase to 72 & 78.6 in 2016

Department of Census and Statistics announces that the life expectancy of Srilankan males and females has increased since 2001. The new life expectancy of Srilankan male is 72 years and female is 78.6 years which were 68.8 and 77.2 in 2001.

it is observe srilanka is emerging towards elder generation and it is government responsibility to improve the health care and elderly support services for the new segments.

Mihin Lanka Losses accumulated Rs. 17 Billion by Now

Finance Ministry stated that the state run airline Mihin Lanka has recorded a loss of Rs. 17 Billion over its 7 years operation.
Finance Ministry said it had been given a Rs. 15 Billion letter of comfort in 2015 to continue its operations and the ministry is expected to reduce losses to Rs. 938 million, from Rs. 1.48 Billion in last year.
