Applications are invited for the certificate course conducted by Buddhist Studies Unit, University of Colombo; the course is designed to give a basic but reliable introduction to Buddhism. It is meant for the youth, mature mid career people, senior citizens, Dhamma-School Instructors, and those foreigners and locals who are interested in the local culture and religion.
Duration of the course
Four months: Meets once a week on weekend at Buddhist Studies Unit, University of Colombo.
Admission Requirements (At least one of the requirements mentioned below needs to be fulfilled).
- A minimum of three passes at GCE Advanced Level examination or its equivalent, or
- Completion of Dharmacarya examination conducted by the Department of Examinations, or
- A minimum of six passes at GCE Ordinary Level examination or completion of Daham Pasal Avasana examination or completion of Pracina Prarambha examination with minimum of five years experience in public or private sector, or
- Being over sixty years of age and becoming successful at the interview.

Process of Application
The duly completed application form and paying in voucher (in 03 copies) collected from the Academic & Publications Division of the University or Buddhist Studies Unit office or downloaded from its website (www.cmb.ac.lk/academic/arts/bstudies/index.htm) with the receipt for payment of Rs. 500.00 as application form fee credited to University of Colombo Account No. 086-100-12189662 at any branch of People’s Bank should be mailed or handed over to the following address, to be received on or before the 15th of July 2013.
