The Government is planning to recruits more English-speaking policemen with computer literacy to the Tourist Police to handle number of complaints of harassment of tourists.
At present there were only two Tourist Police units in Hikkaduwa and Negombo. And another two will be set up in Mount Lavinia and Arugam Bay soon.
The Tourist Police officers will be given a uniform, a T-shirt similar to the coast guard uniform but with the police crest on it. The most of the complaints were made by European tourists.
The new recruitments of English Speaking policemen would help to improve and enrich safer tourism in Srilanka and welcome more Tourists into country.
