The Ministry of Agriculture made an announcement to inviting the expression of interest on topic of Rice Export Zone Progamme, which is Developing 4 Export Rice Zone and achieving the 200,000 Metric tons exports in 2015.
The document stated the last 5 years the srilanka has recorded remarkable improvement on rice production and excess on local supply. Therefore the government willing to open a export market for rice and improve growth of srilanka economy and living standard of famers.
Expected 4 Rice Export Zones will be on Ampara, Polonnaruwa, Hambantota and Mannar. The proposed rice export targeted to export 200,000 Metric Tons in 2015.
The Ministry of Agriculture invites the expression in interest from the private sector organisations who are interested in rice production, processing and exportation to join the proposed project under Public private partnership programme.
The interested organisation contacts to the Additional Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture, Govijana Mandiraya, 80/5, Rajamalwatta lane, Battaramulla.
The expression of interest last day will be 20th January 2012.
