On 1st February 2013 the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Sri Lanka have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which will see both bodies offer service and support to each others ‘members and collaborate on joint research, education, member body development and on other areas of mutual interest.

CPA Ireland has strategic partnerships (MRAs) with peer bodies in CGA Canada, CPA Australia, ICA India and ICA Bangladesh, IPA South Africa and audit recognition in New Zealand. By becoming a CPA, you are joining a global network. Out of some two and a half million qualified accountants globally, one million plus describe themselves as CPAs.

 

Entry Qualification

  • 3 Passes at G.C.E (A/L) and Maths and English language at G.C.E (O/L).or
  • Other qualifications may also acceptable

 

Stage 1 – Formation 1

  1. Business Mathematics and Quantitative Methods
  2. Business Law
  3. Economics and the Business Environment
  4. Introduction to Accounting
  5. Introduction to Cost and Management Accounting

 

Stage 2 – Formation 2

  1. Adv. Financial Accounting
  2. Taxation
  3. Adv. Management Accounting
  4. Information systems

 

Stage 3 – Professional 1

  1. Corporate Reporting
  2. Auditing
  3. Corporate Laws and Governance
  4. Managerial Finance

 

Stage 4 – Professional 2

  • Strategy & Leadership (Mandatory)
  • Advanced Corporate Reporting (Mandatory)
  • Audit & Assurance Services (Elective)
  • Advanced Taxation (Elective)
  • Strategic Corporate Finance (Elective)
  • Strategic Performance Management (Elective)

Stage 5 – Award – CPA

Ethics & Governance exam plus three years’ practical experience

 

Options to be Dual Qualification

  • Formation I & II are examined by CPA SL and Professional I & II are examined by CPA Ireland leading to dual qualification of CPA (Ireland) and CPA (Sri Lanka) or
  • All sections: Formation I, II and Professional I & II are examined by CPA (Sri Lanka) leading to award of CPA (Sri Lanka).
  • CPA probably the most recognized designation worldwide for professional accountants.
