The Srilanka’s first Satellite Supreme Sat I launched successfully today (November 27) at 15.43 Hours on board China’s Long March 3B/E Launch vehicle from the Xi-Chang launch Centre.
Srilanka become 45 Country to own Communication Satellite and becomes third in south Asian country to have launched a satellite after India and Pakistan.
The Satellite will be position above Srilanka in Geo Stationary orbit of 87.5 degree east nearly 36000 km from surface of the earth. The satellite would expect to use for commercial purposes and life time of 15 years.
The launched was initially expected on 22nd November 2012, but it was postpone due to technical and Weather conditions.
