Police Chief N X. Ilangakone in a directive issued to all senior police officers had ordered that police officers who violate road rules be dealt with under the prevailing laws.

This step was taken after the publication of photographs of uniformed police officers violating road rules.

If police vehicles violate the traffic law. The senior officer in the vehicle will be held responsible and if such incidents are repeated disciplinary action will be taken against the driver and the senior officer stated by Police Chief NX. Ilangakone.
