The Consumer Affairs Authority commenced raiding all supermarkets in the country, following complaints that vegetables and fruits are sold above the displayed price.
The Authority received a number of public complaints about supermarkets in various parts of the country where vegetables and fruits are sold beyond the prices on display.
The CAA flying squad raided over 33 supermarkets in Colombo. Gampaha, Kandy, Galle, Kurunegala, Kaluthara, Kelaniya, Matara and Nuwara Eliya and detected several supermarkets where vegetables and fruits were sold way beyond the displayed price.
The CAA Chairman Marzook said the Authority will take legal action against the misbehaving supermarket managements.
It is awareness to the public to makesure to check their pricing and the facilities offers by various supermarkets island wide.
