Sri Lanka Army’s newest project for rest and recreation, ‘Laya Waves’ at Kalkudah, built by Engineer Service Regiment (HSR) troops as one more addition to the Laya chain of hotels, was opened to the the public by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake on Monday morning during a formal ceremony.
The state-of-the-art Laya Waves with eight cabana-type constructions with deluxe single and family rooms overlooking the serene Kalkudah beach also has special suites in its two-storied building.
Dedicated as one more welfare project of the Directorate of Welfare, all Army personnel are entitled to receive concessionary rates in this picturesque hotel, erected in this area considering future potentials.
Commander of the Army after the formal inauguration closely watched the interior of the construction, in the company of officers and spoke to the new staff at the hotel. The Army-managed Laya Hotel chain has already won accolades for its management, facilities and services after the Army established Laya Beach, Laya Safari and Laya Leisure in Wadduwa, Yala and Kukuleganga.
