The Northern Province of Srilanka recorded 43% of total fish harvest in 30 years ago, which is reduced upto 7% in last 30 years due to war and restrictions on fishing.
After the ends of war, the fishing harvests gradually increasing 7% t 18% for last seven month time. The government of Srilanka spend Rs. 1,800 Million on fisheries investment in Northern Province in order to improve fish harvest.
Srilanka do have great opportunity for Fish self sufficiency and export markets with enough fishery resources available.
