The State run Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB), the National Transportation Commission (NTC), which oversees the operations of private bus services and the Department of Railways had made special arrangements to deploy more services in view of the New Year.

The Chief Operators Superintendent of the SLTB, said about 5,000 buses would be in service from 7^th April to 21^st April 2014 in view of the New Year. These bus services would be operated from the Central Bus Stand in Pettah. Colombo. The SLTB had also made arrangements to bring back people to Colombo from rural areas after the New Year.

More luxury buses haw been allocated on the expressways to provide better transport facilities at a same fares.
